Makeup Removal: Purity vs Micellar Solution

When it comes to “lazy”(ish) makeup removal, my go to was always my Purity Cleanser from Philosophy, a better alternative than wipes. A small amount applied to a cotton pad would remove all my makeup, which includes destroying that annoying stubborn Maybelline mascara that just does not want to leave my lashes, without tugging or having to scrub my skin so hard that the thin delicate skin around my eyes will be left sore and horrible (trust me, this has happened with wipes in the past, thats why I love Purity because it takes it off so easily!)

However, I’ve actually found something that I think I may in fact like more than Purity, oooo. It’s the L’Oreal Micellar Water. Sounds scary, I know, but if you haven’t heard of this product, it is a cleansing water, to say the least, that is used as a makeup remover, and is apparently a dupe of the ever critically acclaimed Bioderma which is near enough impossible to buy in the UK.

Anyway… I always thought such good things of Purity, because after finding out that wipes are terrible for your skin (apparently so…) I bought a cleansing balm but sometimes it’s just wayyyyyy too much effort running water and taking your makeup off that way, so I got Purity so that I could just take it all off with a cotton pad for lazy days (i.e. most days).
I decided to try out L’Oreal’s Micellar Solution FINALLY after wanting it for sooooo long, and let us just say it is makeup removal revolutionary. Takes it off way easier than Purity does and never stings, as Purity sometimes does around the eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I do love both, however L'Oreal definitely beats Philosophy here.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser retails for £8 (90ml)/£17.50 (236ml)/£28.50 (471ml) and L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution retails for £4.99, both available from Boots.com and larger Boots stores
