Revlon ColorStay Shadow Links

I was having a look around Boots a couple of weeks ago and came across these at the Revlon Counter. One of their newest releases, it seems, are their ColourStay Shadow Links

These single eyeshadows slide together to enable to you to create your own palette, so it be, but you're not restricted to how many shadows you put together because realistically you can do as many as you like.
I have the shades Bone, Melon and Onyx.

I've seen Jouer do a similar kind of thing, however these retailing at £2.99 each make them a fraction of the price of theirs.

The Spring Lip

MAC Lipstick in Morange, Revlon Colour Burst Lip Lacquer Balm in Whimsical, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid, Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick in Bubblegum, MAC Lipstick in Girl About Town, No7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Blooming Pink, Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in In Love With Ginger

Lip colours are a key feature for makeup for every fashion season, with certain hues coming in for this season especially, plus the ones that come round every year too.

Just a note, I have done a general spring edit, but it turned out that there were a lot of spring lipsticks that I really liked and I kinda thought there were too many for them all to go in one edit. Anywayyyyyyy...

I'm ever so obsessed with the Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm in Whimsical because it's not your standard spring pastel colour and that's what I like about it i think. It's not really over powering and it's really long lasting.

The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid is a more intense version of the above product in terms of its pigmentation. It's a near identical match to the Whimsical Lacquer Balm but this isn't as glossy, making it better for daytime i think, and this lipstick better for the evening.

I bought the Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick in Bubblegum because it's literally exactly the same as MAC St Germain - I wasn't sure if this kind of colour would suit me, hence me buying the cheaper one. This I suppose is a stereotypical spring colour, a clean pastel pink. I really like this and I think it would suit most skin tones.

Going a bit brighter, I absolutely LOVE MAC's Lipstick in Girl About Town. Let's be honest, everyone that owns this (and I know so many people that do!) absolutely loves it.

For a less intense lip compared to Girl About Town, I really like No7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Blooming Pink. It's actually a really similar colour to Girl About Town but less pigmented so definitely more wearable for daytime (which isn't to say you can't wear Girl About Town in the daytime, because I do).

Orange lips are huge this season, as they always are for spring summer. I really like the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in In Love With Ginger because the formula is gorgeous and the pigmentation is fantastic.

An alternative orange lip is the ever loved MAC Lipstick in Morange. This is in their Amplified Creme formula, which means it literally stays put all day.

The Spring Edit

Spring is officially here! And though the weather is ever so on and off and the moment, I'm still going to give a little round up of some great spring-time products.

When I think of spring makeup, I always think of rather neutral on the eyes, so I've included the Bourjois Colour Edition 24 eyeshadow; now i'm not too sure of the shade, mainly because I don't actually think it has it on there, but it's a light shimmery pink shade. I love cream eyeshadows. It's no mystery to you that I do, and though this one is a cream-to-powder formulation, I still love it because it requires the smallest amount of effort to apply, plus it multitasks as a base too. I also really like the L'Oreal Colour Appeal Solo Eyeshadow in the shade 152 Platinum Beige. You know those days where you can't be bothered doing anything special with eyeshadow but you still want a bit of something? This is perfect for that.

A softer alternative to black eyeliner is using brown instead; I really like the Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Liner in Sable Brown. Gives a certain definition to the lash line without the harshness of black. I also really like the Rimmel ScandalEyes Liner in Nude on the lower waterline to really brighten the eye up (rather than using white which can look so harsh and over-powering, especially on darker skin tones).

There's two big lip colours in at the moment, the infamous Radiant Orchid, a la Pantone, and orange, the standard that comes back around each year. I picked up two gorgeous orchid lip shades last week, first one is the new (ish) release of the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Lacquer Balms (shade 'Whimsical') - they're a new formula of the chubby-stick-dupes of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, but these new ones have a slight amount of shimmer to them (there's also a line of matte formulations too). I also really like the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid, which I do believe seems to be a dupe of MAC Show Orchid which I think is discontinued.

Keeping to the theme of lips, orange is huge in again this year, and I think the standard orange lipstick that springs to mind for a lot of people is Morange lipstick by MAC; I've not worn this much yet but I can't wait to get a lot of use out of this when the sun is out! A great dupe of MAC Morange that I picked up a few weeks ago is Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in In Love With Ginger. It's slightly more red than Morange however still is the fantastic on-trend bright shade for this season!

Onto skin... One of the big trends for this season is 'no makeup-makeup' - it's been seen at loads of catwalks for the SS14 season, and to achieve this look I really like the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, because it covers everything that it needs to be covered but still lets the skin show through and gives a radiant, bare-skinned look. I also really like MAC Face and Body Foundation for the same reason - also, Face and Body is so great in terms of its buildability; using one layer gives a really light finish but you can build it up to almost a full coverage (plus it's a perfect day to night foundation too). If you're wanting something lighter than a foundation, I love the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream. Again, this covers everything it needs to, but is so light on the skin (literally just feels like you're wearing moisturiser).

A beautiful blush for spring is the Topshop Blush in Head Over Heels, which is a cream formula blush which doesn't necessarily set, but also doesn't stay shiny and sticky either - it's honestly the perfect in-between. (They do however describe it as cream to powder however it doesn't set a lot in my opinion, if that makes any sense).

And finally for nails. I've selected the stereotypical spring hue of mint in the form of Barry M Nail Paint in Blue Moon. This does need a good three coats, however it's such a gorgeous pastley springy colour and i love it. Matte finish for nails has been all the rage for probably about a year now. I really like Barry M's Matte Nail Paint in Vanilla - this is not too far from my skin tone, which is why I really like it for spring because it's toned down and very neutral. The matte finish makes it even more understated but still looks very chic and classic. I've also included two of the Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints, in some nice pastel shades, Light Blue and Lychee.

What products do you like for spring?

The Autumn Edit

Benefit Smokin' Eyes | NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Kuala Lumpur | NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Scarlett Empress | MAC Lipstick in Twig | Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate | Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush

With cold mornings and winter coats coming out, autumn is definitely upon us. Here are a few of my top beauty picks for this autumn.

The autumn/winter ’13 eye trend is all about soft smokey eyes, and this palette from Benefit is perfect for that. Sweep the pink shade all over the lid as a base, then blend the lighter grey all over the lid, avoiding the inner corner, and then the darker charcoal shade in the outer corner and outer crease to define.

This gorgeous eyeshadow duo from NARS has perfect autumnal colours. Apply the lighter peachy shade all over the lid, then blend the darker aubergine shade through the crease.

A berry or burgundy lip is a key staple of autumn/winter trends. This lipstick from NARS is described as “Perfect jewel toned blue-red”.

An inexpensive burgundy lipstick is this Chubby Stick-dupe -- these can be sheered down or the colour can be built up for more of an intense look.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos - they stay-put all day, don’t crease and come in a ton of colours. I chose one of the newest shades, Metallic Pomegranate for this edit as it is a stereotypical autumn colour. Apply all over the lid and under the lower lash line, blend and add a bit of mascara. For a more dramatic look, blend a dark brown powder eyeshadow like MAC Handwritten through the crease.

For a more daytime shade, MACs lipstick in Twig is perfect - described as “soft muted brownish-pink”, the satin finish lipstick is a muted down version of the classic burgundy lip for autumn.

Beauty Products of the Day! -- Saturday 13th April 2013

Aloha lovelies! I thought I'd share with you the things that I've used on my hair/face/body today and I've decided I'm going to try and do this most days or at least a couple times a week!

TRESemme Heat Defence Spray Now I used this before I blow-dried my hair and before I straightened it. I also used the TRESemme Shampoo and Conditioner before but I'm not sure what they are called... But anyway, it stops my hair being extremely frizzy, makes it easier to handle and protects it from the nastiness of heat.

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner My hair was really tangeled today when I got out of the shower, so it made it a lot easier to comb my hair through with this in it. It softens my hair and smells AMAZING.

Nivea Creme -- I used this as my moisturiser today as my skin was very dry this morning, however it has infact made it quite oily!

Revlon ColourStay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin in Sand Beige -- my favourite foundation, you all know that (I mention it so much).

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 02 Light -- my favourite concealer - you all know this too!

MUA Pro Base Concealer Palette in Natural -- I don't really like this palette much as a concealer, but I used the darkest shade as a slight contour because it is too dark.

MAC Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel -- I used this as a highlight on the tops of my cheekbones - it's gorgeous.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder -- now I don't have an image with this because 1. the writing has all came off and 2. It smashed so looks a tad messy!

MAC Fix+ Spray -- The usual makeup setter - I think everyone has this. I also use this on my hair too to make it feel softer.

MAC Eyeshadow in Brun -- Again, the usual. I use this all the time because it is a really great colour for me.

Sleek MakeUP Au Naturel Palette -- I used the shade 'Taupe' all over the lid, 'Toast' in the crease and 'Nougat' as an inner corner highlight. I then used 'Noir' over the black gel liner...

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Black -- to create a cat eye. It is very smooth and easy to apply.

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara in Extra Black -- This mascara was used first to thicken my lashes.

Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama Mascara -- I then used this mascara to lengthen the lashes.

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Red Dynamite -- You don't need to spend lots on lip liners - this one cost my £3 and it is very good, very pigmented.

MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger -- I think this has to be my new favourite lipstick... Sorry MAC Russian Red!

Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! Perfume -- I mentioned this in my disappointing products post, only because it doesn't have great longevity, however I still love the scent.

Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth Body Butter -- for the super duper dry skin on my poorly post-surgery hands.

Ooookaay! A slightly different post for you there -- hope you're all having a lovely day whatever you are doing!
Lots of love xx

Boots, Superdrug and MAC Haul!

Guess what?! I went shopping. Oops...

So I firstly replaced my trusty go-to concealer, Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. I love this and you've probably heard me talk about it loads, but yes, this was the first thing I picked up from Boots.

I then picked up this mascara, Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama. I bought this because Tanya Burr (makeup artist and beauty blogger/YouTuber) uses this in a lot of videos and Zoella featured it in her America haul video so I thought I would give it a go seen as I needed a new mascara!

Then I finally picked up the Real Techniques Core Collection, which includes a buffing brush, contour brush, small detailer brush and pointed foundation brush. There are the brand of one half of Pixiwoo , pro makeup artist, blogger and YouTuber Sam Chapman. I already have the 'Expert Face Brush' and 'Powder Brush' from Real Techniques (I think I mentioned buying the Expert Face Brush in my last makeup haul post) and I love them so much, they are very high quality brushes which I would be more than willing to pay much more than their retail price for! I'm extremely excited about these as I've been wanting them for so long!

I then picked up a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous which is a gorgeous orange/coral colour. These are a great dupe for the Clinique Chubby Sticks for around £10 cheaper. They come in a ton of colours and I'm very excited to use it!

I know dry shampoo is a tad boring, but Batiste do dry shampoos with hints of colour in as well as the original. I use this one because I have very dark brown hair and if I use the original dry shampoo it can sometimes make my hair look grey and ashy. Also, these can be used to cover up your roots - my natural hair colour is a lot lighter than the colour that I dye it so when my roots start to show through they look very weird, and obviously because hair dyeing isn't too great for your hair, I don't really want to dye my hair as soon as I can see my natural colour coming through... What I'm trying to get at is you can use it to darken your roots as well as to refresh your hair -- this is also another repurchase of mine too!

I bought this Sleek Au Naturel Palette from Superdrug and this is something that I've been wanting for ages but never got round to buying it but it is a very nice palette and I'm extremely glad that I bought it! The shadows are very pigmented, which is amazing for £7.99 for £12 shadows! I'm very excited to use this!

Now I first saw the Make Up Academy Heaven and Earth Palette on Louise's (Sprinkle of Glitter) YouTube video when she'd been sent some things from MUA, and I thought, ooohh that looks nice! And especially for just £4! I'm excited to try this out too as well as the Sleek palette!

Then I went to MAC... I firstly picked up the Lady Danger lipstick. I wanted something a bit different and I also wanted an orange lipstick but I didn't want to go straight to a super bright orange like Morange, and Lady Danger is more of a reddy-orange, so I bought this one because it wasn't super bright and orange. So yes, I really love it so far. By the way, don't be deceived by the photo of it above, it looks pink because of rubbishy lighting, please forgive.

My final item, also from MAC is one of their Mineralize Skin Finishes -- they are powder highlighters, which could also be used as eyeshadows I suppose, and they are absolutely gorgeous! The shade I got is called Soft and Gentle, but I've found that they change the names of them all the time so if you are a reading this a few months after I've uploaded this then the chances are that they are still selling this but just under a different name!

So that's all the things that I bought yesterday! I hope you're having a wonderful day whatever you are doing!

March Favourites!

So I have here some of the things that I've really liked this month, I hope you enjoy!

My mum got The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish in a set for Christmas and she's not really a fan of body scrubs, so I kindly took it off her hands for her! It's such a nice product because it had tiny scrub particles in it as well as strawberry seeds and it lathers up like a body wash too, so it is a 2-in-1 product, which is always a good thing! I don't usually like strawberry scented things as I don't like any artificial strawberry products like sweets and scents and things, but I love this so much!

I bought the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer after I had heard so many YouTubers talk about it and I love love love it, it is my favourite concealer ever! The best thing as well is that it is so cheap as well! I love it so much and I really don't think I will find another concealer that I love as much as this - let's just hope they don't discontinue it for a very long time!

I've been using the Revlon ColourStay Makeup for quite a while but I started to go off it and then it ran out and I never repurchased it. But I did buy another one at the beginning of March and I really love it again! I realised that why I didn't love it as much a few months back is because I used so much product that it made my skin look and feel horrible, and also I never used a moisturiser before applying it. Now I'm using smaller amounts and I buff it straight into freshly moisturised skin which keeps the skin looking a lot more like skin!

Another item that I've had for a while that I've come to like again is the No7 Shine Free Makeup Base - I went off this when I started wearing the Revlon ColourStay because it is a demi matte finish, the primer is a matte finish so they weren't too great together. However, I realised a few weeks back that it's probably good thing to wear moisturiser under your foundation so the primer isn't as bad under that foundation. However, last week I was ill and had a cold so my skin was super dry and disgusting, so wearing a matte primer and a demi matte foundation just made my skin even more disgusting so that was the only time this month that I didn't like them together!

Another item that I've had for ages but only really started loving again is the Benefit Eye Bright. Now I got the Benefit Confessions of a Concealaholic kit as a birthday present a couple years ago and I really liked the Eye Bright which was in that, but the extent of me using it was as an inner corner highlight. Anyway, I bought the actual pencil version with a Boots voucher that I got on my last birthday, but I'd only actually used it a couple times until a couple of weeks ago when I watched a YouTube video from MakeupByTiffanyD where I think she was explaining how she gets rid of her dark circles. So basically she applied her foundation and then applied the Eye Bright under her eyes, blended it and then applied her under eye concealer over the top - the pink of the Eye Bright counteracts the blue of under your eyes making it brighter and more neutral. I tried this and it really helped so Eye Bright is one of my key makeup staples now!

Okay, so I don't really have many things in my favourites this month, but I've not really bought anything new; I'm hoping that next month's and May's favourites will be a lot better because I'm getting my MAC Pro discount in the next couple weeks so I will be having some spending sprees so I'll do a haul post when I have time to go to the MAC store! Eeee, I'm so excited, MAC is amazing!

Alrighty, I hope you're staying happy, healthy and safe, and you're having a great day whatever you're doing!
Lots of love xx
