The Perfect Base | Beauty Combo #1

The perfect base is essential for any makeup look, and I feel that I achieve this with two wonderful cult products from Illamasqua, their Hydra Veil primer and Skin Base Foundation.
Illamasqua’s Hydra Veil primer is probably the weirdest texture of product; in the packaging it is quite thick  and jelly-like, and it comes with a little scoop to make it easier to get the product out (otherwise it is basically impossible to get out!). A little bit goes a long way, and I apply this all over my face after serum and moisturiser, but before foundation, as a primer and moisture boost to the skin. It leaves almost a sticky feeling to the skin, great for the foundation to stick to, and creates a barrier to stop the foundation sinking into the skin.

It’s perfect match is the Skin Base Foundation, also from Illamasqua. I think I’ve spoken about this before, but I was never really that in love with this when I first got it, as it is quite tough to blend into the skin, however using a denser foundation brush to apply it with really helps! (I use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush). It leaves a gorgeous, natural finish but still with good coverage - only the smallest amount of concealer is needed!

I think this duo is absolutely perfect if you are wearing an intense eye look, like a smokey eye, or if you are being photographed because it photographs beautifully!

Facial Cleansers: The Roundup

Cleansers for so long were something that I didn’t really get the point of and never used, however recently I’ve been using these three and absolutely loving them! Here are a roundup, as so to speak, of some of the best cleansers I have tried.

A little bit pricey, but it lasts for so long. Apply to a dry face, working it into the skin, and buff off using a wet flannel - it removes all your makeup so easily (even that stubborn waterproof mascara).

I use my Purity Cleanser if I’m being lazy and can’t be bothered with using the Clinique Cleansing Balm. I apply a bit of this onto a cotton pad and it takes off my makeup without any real effort - however it does have quite a lot of fragrance to it, and can sting if you get it in your eyes!

I like to use this when I’ve already taken my makeup off, or just to remove my face makeup, as it leaves my skin feeling so lovely and soft. I apply this all over a dry face, then buff off with a muslin cloth.
