August Glossybox

I FINALLY decided to dip into the world of beauty boxes, and on Saturday morning I received my first Glossybox in the post.

Glossybox packaging

So if you don't know what Glossybox is, it is a beauty box where you get 5 surprise sample sized, or sometimes full size, products each month. It costs £10 per month (+ P&P) on a rolling contract)

Contents of the August Glossybox

So the first product in the box is a sample of Juicy Couture's new perfume, Viva La Juicy Noir.

Sample of Viva La Juicy Noir by Juicy Couture

WHAT THEY SAY: "Viva La Juicy Noir is for the woman who is daring and leaves a lasting impression. She's the life of the part - not afraid to show off and get notices. Viva La Juicy Noir highlights the succulent ripe berry notes and gourmand accents, whilst adding a juicy touch of honeysuckle and a sultry hint of sandalwood."
This is currently the only product I've tried so far and I absolutely LOVE it. I will definitely be purchasing the full size version!

Next is this 30ml mini version of the Purity Made Simple Cleanser by Philosophy.
Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser

WHAT THEY SAY: "A highly effective one-step facial cleanser. A pH balanced formula that rapidly dissolves dirt and makeup while deep cleaning the pores".
So I've tried this a couple times already and I do like it, but I'm not giving too much away as there will hopefully be a review for you next week on it!

Emite Makeup Eyelash Curlers

WHAT THEY SAY: "Developed with professional makeup artists for their requirements, the Professional Eye Lash Curler has a special curved design to suit all eye shapes, without touching your makeup base."
I'm only just getting into using eyelash curlers so another pair means I can keep one in my makeup drawer and one in my makeup bag "just incase".

Oceane Makeup Remover Pen

WHAT THEY SAY: "This pen delivers the mobile, mess- and fuss-free makeup touch up / removal solution we have always wanted when stuck on planes, trains and automobiles."
I haven't tried this yet but I quite like the idea of it - it seems easy and simple rather than having to get a cotton bud and makeup remover!

Jelly Pon Pong 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner in Plum

WHAT THEY SAY: "A uniquely formulated crayon that doubles as an eyeliner for thick, precise lines as well as a perfectly blended eye shadow."
I also haven't used this either, but I have just swatched it and the pigmentation and blendability seems great.

So that is all for this months' Glossybox. I'm definitely going to make these a regular occurrence because I think they're a great little treat to get each month!

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated or endorsed by Glossybox to promote their service, I just think that it is a fantastic service for beauty lovers/junkies like myself.

Sample Sized Sweethearts

I’m little bit obsessed with sample/travel sized beauty products - I have such a fascination with mini versions of products. I don't know what it is but I just think that they are so darn cute.

I have quite a few “minis”, if you will, in my makeup/beauty collection at the moment; let us take a look at a few!

Benefit PoreFessional Primer

Benefit Porefessional Primer

This is the third sample mini size version of this that I have gone through. My auntie got given this at a Benefit event a couple weeks ago and then gave it to me, but I love how velvety soft this feels on the skin.
The full size version of this retails for £24.50 HERE

No7 Airbrush Away Primer

No7 Airbrush Away Primer

A second primer mini: This was included in a free No7 gift set a couple weeks ago. Alike the Benefit primer above, this also feels very soft on the skin, providing the perfect base for your makeup.
The full size version of this retails for £19.50 HERE

No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser

No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser

Also from the free No7 gift that the primer came in; I haven’t used a tinted moisturiser in a very long time. The smaller size means I can get through it quicker, as I’ve had a little bit of a foundation obsession recently, so the smaller the better, haha.
The full size version of this retails for £11.50 HERE

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner

A couple months back, The Body Shop had a three for two offer on travel minis and this was one of the things I picked up. I’ve tried this before and really like it, and again the smaller size means I can get through it quicker.
The mini version of this retails for £3 and the standard size retails for £8, both HERE

MAC Face and Body 50ml

Could you class this as a mini? I got the smaller 50ml size rather than the standard 120ml for face and body as I’d never tried it before. It is a really lovely foundation, great for any skin type!

This retails for £21.50 HERE

Why I've been away from YouTube for so long...

Those of you that subscribe to my YouTube channel will know that I uploaded a new video on yesterday - a long time coming as I hadn’t uploaded a video before that since the 29th June!

So why have I neglected my channel?
Well I’ve been waiting for a suitable time to film on a real proper camera rather than using my iPhone which is rather unreliable in terms of filming in the way I want to for sit-down videos.
I’ve also been awaiting a MacBook Pro to make editing easier, quicker and better!

I’m hoping to upload a video every week from now on and not neglect it for any longer!

Lots of love

August Wish List

It’s wish list time again - let us take a look at what I’ve had my eye on this month.

NARS Ita Brush

WHAT THEY SAY: "Super black goat hair in a small, flat and angular design ideal for blending and contouring."

NARS Ita Brush, £28.50
A recent find of mine from watching Jaclyn Hill's contouring video HERE. I have seen this before, and thought that it looks just like one of those cheap rubbishy brushes you get free with a bronzer or blusher, however on her video it contoured perfectly. A bit pricey, yes, but I am a huge fan of contouring and I know that I would get a lot of use from it.

Illamasqua Hydra Veil

WHAT THEY SAY: "Create a radiant finish with Hydra Veil's instantly rehydrating gel formula. Providing the optimal base for your make-up."
Illamasqua Hydra Veil, £27

Though my skin is particularly oily, it is also quite dehydrated. Hydra Veil works to rehydrate the skin as well as being a primer for foundation. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this recently!

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

WHAT THEY SAY: "A lightweight fluid concealer that provides medium to full coverage with a comfortable, natural matte finish. Colour-true formula lasts up to 15 hours. Helps concealer and correct the look of under-eye circles, and discolourations."

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, £15.50

Also seen on one of Jacyln Hill’s videos, this super high coverage concealer is meant to be perfect for dark circles, as well as creating a blank canvas across the lid for eyeshadow.

MAC Pro Longwear Foundation

WHAT THEY SAY: "A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environment condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. Even in hot and humid conditions, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. Provides everyday SPF protection."

MAC Pro Longwear Foundation, £25

I’d wanted this a while ago but I never ended up getting it as I’d seen other MAC foundations that took my fancy more than this. However a couple weeks ago, a good chum and I went shopping and she picked up this and now absolutely loves it!

So those are the things that I have had my eye on this month so far! What beauty or fashion items have you had your eye on in August?

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I’d never actually heard of a cleansing balm before THIS video with Caroline Hirons & Pixiwoo, where Caroline (a skincare specialist blogger) spoke about how bad makeup wipes are for your face, and that a cleansing balm is actually the best thing to use instead.

She spoke about the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, which I wanted to try, however it seems that it is not a brand that is easily available in the UK (I may just not have searched hard enough, honestly).

Then whilst browsing I saw that Clinique had a cleansing balm, and I then came across a review on this product that Caroline Hirons wrote on her blog, and she said she really liked it.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, £21

But anyway, to cut a long story short I decided to buy it. I really wasn’t sure at all what I was going to think of it as I’d never used a cleansing balm before.

WHAT THEY SAY: "Lightweight cleansing balm quickly dissolves stubborn eye and face makeups, including those with sunscreen. Transforms from a solid balm to a silky, fluid oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Non-greasy. Non-drying. For all skin types."

Honestly, my first experience with it was a very weird one. Not that anything out the ordinary happened but the formulation change of the product, as described in Clinique’s description above. I love how easily and quickly it just takes everything off without being harsh on the skin.

Though this is a little bit of a splurge (for me it was anyway), I do definitely recommend this product, whatever skin type you are.

It retails for £21 and is available from larger Boots stores and online, Selfridges and Clinique's direct website.

The Best Mascara EVER

"The best mascara ever" is probably a very big claim to make, but I stand with my vote to say that this is the best mascara I have ever used.
Unless this is the first post from my blog that you have read, you won't be unfamiliar with this. It is the Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara.
Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara, £7.99

As you'll know, I'm a big fan of Maybelline's volume express mascaras; I've been using them for years, and I've tried out nearly all of them. Despite being impressed I've never ended up repurchasing the same one. I decided to try this just as a change and I noticed in the shop that the wand looked very similar to that of the Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara which I loved but haven't used in years. As this was cheaper, I decided to give it a try. WOW.
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara wand

My lashes naturally are very short (weeps), this gives them SO MUCH length and volume. It is also very long lasting too. As I right this, last night I naughtily forget to take my makeup off (slaps wrist), but when I woke up the next morning, 50%, or more even, of the product was still on my lashes. I still looked like I actually had eyelashes in comparison to no mascara.

Would I recommend this to you? Of course. Is this something I will repurchase? DEFINITELY.

Recent Purchases #2

Following last months very many purchases (oops...), I accidentally followed suit this month and did the same. However I've ended up buying even more. My bad.

Here are a few of MANY of my July/August purchases - ENJOY!

So from good old trusty MAC I purchased the ever-loved Face and Body Foundation (50ml version) in the shade C3.
MAC Face and Body Foundation 50ml, £21.50

This shade is a tad too dark for me, however you can really get away with this with face and body because it is so light. I quite like this foundation - it's great for days when my skin is feeling quite good and I have one or no blemishes.

Moving on, I went to Boots and bought two of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers as there was a 2-for-£10 offer on Rimmel, and I got the shades 'Apocaliptic' (bright fuchsia pink) and 'Luna' (soft peach-pink).
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers in Apocaliptic (top) and Luna (bottom), £5.99 each
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Apocaliptic, £5.99
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Luna, £5.99

I love how pigmented and long-lasting these are for the price - they retail for usually £5.99, but there's nearly always some sort of offer on at Boots or Superdrug where you can get them from.

Ordering online from Boots next I got quite a lot, but to stop this post taking you hours to read, I'm just going to mention a couple of the things I got.
Firstly is the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm...
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, £21

Now I don't want to give too much away about this product as I do have a review of it coming up for you in the next two weeks, but it is used to take your makeup off and I really love it - that's all I'm saying!

I then purchased a 'cult' product that has only just come over here to the UK from the States, and is the Maybelline Baby Lips.
Maybelline Baby Lips: 'Hydrate', 'Pink Punch' and 'Cherry Me'; £2.99 each

These are lip balms which does baffle me why everyone gets so excited about them, but I do have to admit they are VERY good. I'm not much of a lip balm person, but I definitely am for these! I got three in 'Hydrate', 'Cherry Me' and 'Pink Punch'.

A couple of items I then ordered from Superdrug were two Real Techniques brushes, which were the blush brush and the stippling brush
Real Techniques Blush Brush and Stippling Brush
Real Techniques Blush Brush, £9.99

Real Techniques Stippling Brush, £10.99

I LOVE the Real Techniques brush line because they are super affordable but AMAZING quality. There was an offer online too a Superdrug which was buy one get one half price, which gave me that extra push to buy both!

My last two products are from the Topshop makeup range.
These are my first two products from the line - I don't know why I've never tried anything from there before as I love Topshop in terms of clothes and jewellery and things, but anyway... I bought a lipstick and a blusher.
The lipstick, firstly, is in the shade "Innocent".
Topshop Lipstick in "Innocent", £8

I find it to be quite similar to MAC Creme Cup (which I nearly bought one the same say!), but I honestly think this feels a lot nicer than the MAC lipsticks! They describe it as a 'velvet finish' which feels so soft and nourishing and nice. I REALLY love his and will definitely be purchasing more Topshop lipsticks in the future!

The blusher I also got from Topshop is in the shade 'Head Over Heels', a soft pink-peachy-coral.
Topshop Blush in "Head Over Heels", £6

This is a cream blush, however when blended into the skin it sets to a powder but still looks glowy and healthy-looking. This is so nice, I really like it! I love their packaging too, it's very simple but looks great.

That is all I have for you today! I did buy a lot more but I have review and things coming up, and honestly there is just too much to squeeze into one post! If you want to see what I bought last month, you can do so by clicking HERE
